Lezzani Commits to Portage College
We are pleased to announce that defender Filip Lezzani has accepted an athletic scholarship to attend Portage College in the ACAC! The 2004 born native of Puchov, Slovakia has spent parts of three seasons with the Oilers, recording 109 points in 94 career games at the USPHL premier level. In addition to his time in Vernal, Filip began the season in the NCDC with the Utah Outliers, where he recorded 13 points in 26 games played before returning to Vernal. The Portage College Voyageurs, based in Lac La Biche, Alberta are coached by four time Stanley Cup champion Kevin McClelland, and participate in the highly competitive ACAC, a league consisting of many former major junior players, and feature alumni playing at all levels of professional hockey. "We are proud of Filip's commitment to further his education at Portage College," said GM David Imonti. "Filip has became an integral part of our program and beloved in the Vernal community. He has consistently been one of our hardest working players and the heartbeat of this program for a lot of his time as an Oiler. We can't wait to follow him on his journey to college hockey and beyond." Congratulations to Filip and the entire Lezzani family!
